Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was an exceptional child. But for a young Irish girl surrounded with gifted parents and extended family, these qualities were natural. Maureen came to this loving haven, August 17, 1920. She was raised by her parents as well as family members. Marguerita LIlburn FitzSimons is the mother of her. She was a accomplished contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin company, and also had shares in the Irish Shamrock Rovers soccer club. Maureen FitzSimons placed 2nd in the group of 6 FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons James O'Hara rounded off the gorgeous family. Maureen enjoyed rough sports as an infant and was extremely good at them. She combined this interest with an equally natural talent for performing. She was awarded nearly every Feis Award for Theater and Drama the country could offer. In her 14th year she enrolled in an organization called the Abbey Theater to follow her goal of studying operatic and classical vocals.
